This Los Angeles quintet, whose name references classic Kung-Fu cinema, was formed in 2005 by Hungarian-born guitarist, Zoltan Bathory with Jeremy Spencer on drums, Matt Snell on bass and Ivan Moody on vocals. After initial songs from their debut album, The Way Of The Fist, created major buzz in the on-line metal world, the finished product was released by Firm Music of Korn, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit fame. That album produced three top 10 U.S. radio hits, a top five MTV Metal Video and Metal Hammer’s prestigious Golden God Award for Best New International Band. With record sales in excess of 400,000, first-time-out 5FDP became an iron-fisted metal phenomenon.

With the addition of guitar virtuoso, Jason Hook, their second album, 2009’s War Is The Answer, debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200. Billboard Magazine declared it “A Sophomore Knockout” and Metal Hammer dubbed it “A Colossal Beast Of Hard Rock Brilliance.” Its first single, “Hard to See,” took just a few days to break into Rock Radio’s Top 10 at the same time becoming their fourth Top Ten Rock Radio hit. To date, War Is The Answer has sold over 150,000 copies in the U.S.

Perhaps the most notable indication of 5FDP’s iconic arrival is the inclusion of “Hard to See” on the next Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock version to be released this month. Fresh from an August appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Five Finger Death Punch will perform from 8:45 to 10 p.m. replacing the previously announced Rev Theory, whose appearance was cancelled due to touring changes.
