Mechanical Masquerade Tonight At the Academy Theater
Atlanta (November, 6, 2011) The Artifice Club of Atlanta is hosting a steampunk party tonight at the Academy Theater in Avondale Estates. Known as the Mechanical Masquerade, the shindig is expected to be a wonderful and whirling evening of jazz, dancing, and steampunk costuming.

With a new venue, new ownership, and fresh ideas, the next Mechanical Masquerade will have an all new face beyond the mask and your attendence would be most desired! This will mark the maiden voyage of The Artifice Club, a new club for the eccentrically inclined and an event that should not be missed! Throughout the evening there will be feature lectures, vendors, workshops, and performances from across the field of our peers. A secret judges’ panel will be present and at the stroke of midnight, a “King and Queen of Steam” will be declared as the masks are removed!

The event will spotlight the upcoming Southern Steampunk Symposium, AnachroCon, and feature live music by the famed Bonaventure Quartet, Creative Loafing’s Best Local Jazz Band 2008-10, and other performances include those by the illustrious Talloolah Love as well as the knockout Knoxville group, Salome Cabaret. Musical interludes arranged by our Club founder, Doctor Q, and AnachroCon’s featured MC Sabrina Pandora will entertain and delight us all. For those more academically inclined, the club will feature a blacksmithing demonstration, etiquette & grooming lessons for men and women, dance instruction, and we are delighted to announce that the Venusian Airship Pirate Trading Company will be hosting the Engineer’s Experimental Laboratory – where patrons can craft their own masks, firearms, or accessories for the grand ball. For those not competing in the ball, the vendors, music, dancing, and good company should entertain those on all walks of life, from the gilded halls to the soot-covered chimneys.

Memberships can be attained at the door for $15, or $10 if properly attired for a masquerade ball. Additional information can be found at www.theartificeclub.com. Doctor Q, the organizer, says “Do join us, this now annual event is going to be bigger and better than ever before! Don’t live vicariously through photographs, come and join us in the adventure!”
