The Punk Rockers from Florida are hitting the road again!

After taking some time off,  Against Me! are touring with Cheap Girls and Fences.   They will be coming to the Masquerade this Sunday!

Andrew Seward, from Against Me! talked to me on the phone today and told me how he was looking forward to getting on the road.

He told me Thursday afternoon,”This is the longest, I think, that I have been home in a long, long time.  We are usually out touring and we took some time off, about three months and I am ready to get back out.”  He also told me that while growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, he would come to Atlanta to hear good music.  “If you ever wanted to hear good music and see big bands, you couldn’t do that here in Huntsville. You couldn’t do that in Birmingham or even Nashville, you had to go to Atlanta.  I loved it, The Masquerade, The Cotton Club and The Tabernacle were my favorites. Saw some awesome shows there.”

Their tour is starting in Gainesville, Florida this Saturday and then they make their way to Atlanta Sunday Night.

I asked Andrew what they had planned while they were here in Atlanta and after of few chuckles about the Clermont Lounge (Which they have been to and do not plan on going this time), he said he was going to get some food and play a kick ass show.

The New Year ahead for Against Me! holds a lot of touring and more writing, hopefully getting some new songs for a new album.  They will be on tour with The Dropkick Murphy’s in Febraury and March and Andrew spoke very highly of them.  He is looking forward to playing the St. Patricks Day show with them in Boston, even though he isn’t Irish  ;)

The Backstage Beat is sure this year will be great for the boys from Against Me! We wish them well!
