This Thursday at The Masquerade, Four bands will play in Heaven thanks to the lovely and talented Shawn Williams.
This is Shawn’s second show booking for The Masquerade and it looks like she is nailing it!
These are four of the best new bands out of Atlanta!
“Stokeswood” is a five piece band made of members Adam Patterson, Mark Godwin, Reed Irvine , Jon Joiner and Justin Mullinix. Stokeswood’s independent release, Carassia is like a sonic excursion between the lines of a poet’s story-telling prowess. Thoughtful introspection on the human condition is amplified and challenged by the layered accents of electroacoustic guitars, pianos, synths, strings and drums. The soulful and captivating vocals of Adam Patterson carry each melody flawlessly through the rhythms and musical harmonies of each track. From start to finish, the album sparkles with intelligent musicality and impressive originality that sets Stokeswood apart from any other band out there right now.
‘A. The Color” is Zach Beachum, Ethan Gabriel Jack formerly of Holy Ghost will be bringing their unique sound and a lot more this Thursday. They formed in 2009 in Atlanta and is one of Shawn’s top picks for up and coming bands.
“The Woodgrains”, another great local Atlanta band. One of the newest musical incarnations to spark from the southeastern corner of Georgia and find its home in the city of Athens is a three-piece calling themselves The Woodgrains. As a band, Nick Carroll, Dylan Crosby, and Evan Amburn pride themselves on distinct three-part harmonies, providing colors and sounds of the golden days. Soul, rock and the psychedelic revolution in its purest form
“The Orkids” are an electro-rock band out of Athens, Georgia, founded in late 2008 by guitarist Adam Monica and singer Sandra Gallardo. The group recently transformed from a studio project between Adam and Sandra to a five-piece rock outfit composed of veteran Athens musicians. With the addition of Joshua Schwarber (Keyboards), Brad Lee Zimmerman (Drums), and Sheldon Wolfe (Bass), The Orkids combine danceable beats and edgy guitar/synth lines with catchy girl/boy vocals to deliver thrilling, infectious pop. In late Summer of 2009, The Orkids completed their first EP entitled “Paper Dolls.” They were just named one of the best 30 bands out of Athens, yep… right up there with REM.
