I have to admit, I have seen Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band a half-dozen times … prior to 1986 and the advent of The Parrot Nation. Now, I am a fan of his Gulf & Western music (aka Trop Rock) as I have most all of his albums from “A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean” though “License to Chill” and all of his live disks … but … I haven’t seen him live in a quarter century.

I have recently experienced the epic that is Alabama Crimson Tide Football Tailgating … well the thousands that show up for the Parrothead tailgating extravaganza is comparable. The partying that takes place at every Buffett concert with his Parrothead’s turning out in force includes pirate ships, women dressed in coconut bra’s and grass skirts, men dressed in coconut bra’s and grass skirts, and more battery-operated frozen margarita machines than this man could count. A cornucopia of colorful and fun-crazy people having the times of their lives. A party matched only by the concert to follow.
