Even though spring was a little early this year, and the blooms are quickly fading, the celebration of the dogwood is in full force this weekend of April 20-22.
With a kick off of La Fête at Greystone on Friday night, the crowd was in full swing. With a reggae band on the open patio, inside there was a wide array of treats and wines.
The hall filled up fast, as the smell of these treats filled the spring air. On the menu were small chicken corn dogs with a mild hot sauce, pork, black beans and rice with a touch of spice, and tomato soup that were all absolutely delish. To top it off was ice cream infused with flavors of sangria, white chocolate, and lemon. Of course, the wine samples flourished from places as far away as Argentina and California. Who couldn’t love the sweet bubbly moscato?
The celebration continues as the Friends of Dogwood pavilion opens between 1:00-5:00 PM, a perfect place to take a break from the abundant tents of crafts, art, and food that weave around Piedmont Park.
Don’t miss out the free concert by Grammy Award winning artist Roberta Flack at 7:30 PM Saturday night at the Meadows. Known for her hits like “Killing Me Softly with His Song”, “Where is the Love”, and “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Flack traverses a broad musical landscape from pop to soul to folk to jazz.
