In opera, “It ain’t over until the fat lady sings.” However, in Lend Me A Tenor at Stage Door Players, it’s not the fat lady everyone is watching out for.
In this tale, the whole town is in a huff in anticipation of Tito Merelli’s (Larry Ruth) debut appearance, his hosts Saunders (Mark Gray) and Max (John Markowski) want to make sure that nothing goes wrong and the star shines.
Unfortunately, the playboy Tito has a way with the ladies. His wife Maria (Eliana Marianes) keeps a watchful eye, as sex kitten Diane (Megan Hayes) is one of many adoring fans who fawn over his charisma.
This fast-moving play should be an opera as its drama is a twisted adventure in lust, seduction, and redemption. It’s filled with great lines, mixed in with music that is guaranteed to touch any operatic soul.
The cast is suburb, and Megan Hayes masterfully brings in her sexy comedic antics; along with Eliana Marianes ,who makes for a believable hot-tempered Italian.
Don’t miss out on an opportunity to shout out your own “bravo” to a fabulous play.
