Returning to Piedmont Park for its sixth year today, Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16, 2012, the Atlanta Arts Festival will once again present two-days of nonstop fun for art lovers and event enthusiasts alike. Open to all ages, the annual free event features a juried show of 200 of the country’s finest painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal craftsman, glass blowers and more. Bringing together outstanding artists with Atlanta’s expansive art buying community, this year’s festival also boasts interactive learning experiences and demonstrations, live music and entertainment, delicious food and beverages, kids activities, a commemorative poster, and much more. 2012 Confirmed Activities:
Artist Market – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday: With an emphasis on visual arts, the Atlanta Arts Festival features a professionally juried, outdoor fine art exhibition of 200 of the country’s top painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal craftsmen, glassblowers, jewelry designers, wood turners and ceramists – all showcasing their art for viewing and for purchase.
Demonstrations & Classes – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday:
· Creation Station: For the whole family! Fun, inspiring artist demonstrations, hands on and collaborative activities, and informative educational sessions by local professional artists.
· Canvas by U!: An adult art class; professionals teach attendees how to complete a painting in one session. By the end of class, festival goers will their own masterpiece to take home!
· Art of Cooking Stage: Enjoy cooking demonstrations throughout the day on the all-new Art of Cooking stage. Have a seat, relax and learn as top chefs create their specialties.
Lil’ Artist Alley – 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
An area for the kids to enjoy hands on activities and live performances! There will be arts and crafts, face painting, balloon twisting, and more.
Arts Advocates – 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday:
Local arts and cultural organizations have the opportunity to distribute information about their organizations and activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about cultural events and organizations in Atlanta!
Live Entertainment – 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday:
The 2012 Atlanta Arts Festival will feature a great variety of live entertainment throughout the weekend! Be sure to visit the Festival Stage or check out the street performers located throughout the festival.
Festival Food, Drinks and Merchandise – 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday:
Enjoy a wide variety of festival foods, snacks and treats. Beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks and water are available at festival beverage stands. Visit the festival store for t-shirts, posters, koozies and more.
*Free admission and open to all ages. There is a fee for Canvas by U! classes and some activities.
