One of the most anticipated shows this fall theatre season Kiss of the Spider Woman at Actor’s Express does not disappoint.

On Broadway, it starred Vanessa Williams and won seven Tony Awards. It contains suspense, love, and a bit naughty scariness. The story is based on the book by Terrence McNally and novel by Manuel Puig.

Molina (Craig Waldrip) in order to maintain some sense of sanity in prison pulls from his love of the cinema scenes to give him the strength to survive. The stench of death is everywhere as this camp facilities all the expectedness of life behind bars.

In this haze, Molina creates the glamorous Spiderwoman (Liberty Cogen ) who exudes sexuality and seduction.  However her sweet kiss comes with a price- death.

Tension is set for the loyalty of love to your love or the love of your own survival.

Liberty Cogen does a fantastic job as the Spider Woman, bringing out all the pulchritudinous that only a woman can offer.

The set design is simple and the dance numbers mesmerizing. Hats off for Actor’s Express as they celebrate their twenty-fifth year anniversary that consistently brings to the Atlanta scene the magic of exceptional theatre. Kiss of the Spider Woman at Actor’s Express follows in that tradition.

Kiss of the Spider Woman at Actor’s Express runs through October 7, 2012
