Meat Puppets New Album Coming Soon

The creative resurgence of the Meat Puppets adds another chapter with their just completed 14th studio LP.  Yet untitled, it is slated for release on Mega Force in March 2013.  This soon-to-be 12 song set helps anoint the band’s most productive recording period in 25 years, or since they pulled off the amazing stretch from 1984 to 1989 in which the band released 5 seminal recordings for SST (Meat Puppets II, Up on the Sun, Mirage, Huevos, and Monsters).  Since 2007, the Puppets have crafted critically acclaimed full lengths including Rise To Your Knees, Sewn Together, and Lollipop.  Curt Kirkwood produced the forthcoming songs at Yellow Dog Studio in Austin Texas and is now working on the art, sequencing and LP title.
With so much recording activity, it is no surprise that touring has been just as relentless, and 2013 will see the band scheduled for a world tour stretching from Vienna to Sydney, and all points in between.  Later this year, the band tours Spain for the first time ever and rumor is rampant that the band will add Moscow to the itinerary.
US dates for this fall are now set and include the honor of being asked to perform the final evening at Track 16 Gallery in Santa Monica, to close out the “We Survived The Pit” (We Got Power) exhibit.  This LA Weekly sponsored event will include DJ sets by Keith Morris and a rare reunion by early 1980’s LA punk band, The Middle Class.
