Blue Man Group at the Fabulous Fox Theatre

It seems you can’t help but get a bit blue these cold days of winter and the post holiday season, but on the flip side being blue can be a good thing. No, I don’t mean being a loveable smurf character  blue, I mean being totally blue, like the Blue Man Group, now stopping off at the Fabulous Fox Theatre through January 20.

Opening night, January 15, was packed as the high energy sounds soothe those walking in to find their space.  In the pre-show activities you are treated to a moving old school electric sign of instructions that go beyond the regular turn off or silence your phone. These messages give shout outs to those in the audience by wishing happy birthday or in my case recognizing an Olympic gold medalist and space traveler.

What I really loved about the Blue Man Group is that the boundaries between stage and audience were blurred, the show is really interactive.  Even though their glaze can be intense, it seems like they create a symbiotic relationship with audience and at one point when one literally crawled over me on my seat and I got “the look”.

With blaring music, lights and with sounds that mimic a rock concert, this show is off the chain. They even facilitate in coordinating with the crowd the best rock moves: from the one hand raise fist to the double arm raise rebel yell!

Bigger than life balls roam the audience in one New Year’s Eve  spectacular that will make you transform your blue mood into one of celebration and life’s visual spectrum of the rainbow.

BLUE MAN GROUP will play the Fabulous Fox Theatre January 15 – 20. Performances are as follows: Wednesday, January 16 at 8:00 p.m.; Thursday, January 17 at 8:00 p.m.; Friday, January 18 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. For more information visit www.blueman.com
