Had a few questions for the Songbird:
How was your Namm Experience?
NAMM was absolutely amazing. It’s like a giant toy store for the industry. It was exciting and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to play the Music Group stage. I met so many great people who are dedicating their lives to music in one form or other. Everyone was very nice and welcoming and that made the experience even better. Getting to watch other artists play in such small settings was really great.
When is your new ep coming out?And what should we expect?
My first EP is coming out the end of February. It’s a mixture of my two loves – pop and new country. I wrote four of the five songs that are on it. I started writing the EP when I was 15 so it’s interesting to listen to them now and reflect on where I was as a person and a songwriter in comparison to now.
Who are your Idols?
I was raised listening to a diverse mix of music – everything from The Beatles to Nirvana to show tunes – so I have way too many idols to list! I really admire Taylor Swift,Her work ethic is unbeatable and she’s crazy talented too! I hope I’m able to have even a fraction of her success one day. I love Sara Bareilles, Marilyn Monroe, Kristen Chenoweth, Demi Lovato, the entire cast of SMASH!, Martina McBride, Greg Herrington, Reese Witherspoon, Andrew Rannells, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Patsy Cline, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, Brandon Flowers, Morrissey…. See? Too many!!!!
My advice for young artists is to never give up their goals. Not every person is going to like what you do or “get” you. Keep writing or playing(or both!) and work hard every day. Harder than anyone else. Listen to others and learn from them but trust your gut to make decisions. Believe in yourself and you’ll be fine!
Sam Ivey Owner of 120 Tavern and Music Hall had this to say about Peyton:
“Don’t let her age fool you, Peyton Parker is a consummate professional musician.
Whether she’s belting out a Civil Wars cover or one of her moving originals
she transports her audience to a state of musical bliss.”
