“Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?” says Abraham, then suddenly Sampson replies “I do bite my thumb, sir” and that is one of the greatest literary insults of all time.

Only one of the most recognized from Shakespeare most well-known work, Romeo and Juliet, currently playing through March 3 at The New American Shakespeare Tavern.

If you are a fan of the Bard, you will love it, if you have never seen a one of Shakespeare’s plays, this is the perfect one to begin to experience them all.  The New American Shakespeare Tavern is only one of three theaters in the world that have gone through the entire repertoire.

This year Romeo and Juliet is the transition to a new generation of actors in the lead roles. Two local teenagers have been summon, (Juliet) Margaret Flock, a senior at the Lovett School in Atlanta, and (Romeo) Jake West, a senior at North Cobb Christian School in Kennesaw, GA, will portray the ‘star crossed lovers’ in the professional company’s annual production.

Anyone that has taken high school English course will be able to recite at least a few lines of this tragic play about love, sacrifice, and family honor.

The New American Shakespeare Tavern is a hidden gem in Atlanta and is the perfect way to be transported back in time and discover that the human conflict odyssey is timeless.

I have never been disappointed and am sure that you will have a unique worthwhile experience. So get in the middle of the rival families of Montague and Capulet and celebrate the love of Romeo and Juliet.

This is also the perfect way to share with that love one the original lover’s tale of lasting passion and dedication.
