Often when you look at vintage photographs you can’t but wonder what the true story behind the beaming faces from that moment of time. In Million Dollar Quartet you are transformed in an era that was pre-Rock & Roll, the honky tonk Rockabilly mix of hillbilly and rock and roll. The famed photograph from December 4, 1956 includes Elvis Presley (Cody Slaughter), Johnny Cash (David Elkins), Jerry Lee Lewis (Ben Goddard), and Carl Perkins (James Barry). All these characters went on to be millionaires and become legends in the history of music.
But for one night, we all can be taken back to a simpler era, when the world was full of possibilities and this new sound was vibrating from the change in the winds.
What was amazing to me is how so many of these songs are timeless. I wonder if today’s modern hip hop will be able to stand the test of time and be sung my grandchildren’s children.
I absolutely loved this show and it is part of the dynamic Fifth Third Bank Broadway Atlanta series.
So don’t miss out to get all shock up and walk the line to where there is a whole lotta shakin’ going on.
Check Million Dollar Quartet at the Fabulous Fox through March 17 and tell your friends about this Tony Award winning Broadway musical inspired by the electrifying true story.
Thank you, thank you very much!
