According to founder Russell Gottschalk of the Atlanta Jewish Music Festival (AJMF) this is the perfect event for music lovers, those members of the Jewish faith, and young families.  The AJMF festival is the largest one of its kind in the South; Gottschalk notes that there are “between 8-10 Jewish Music Festivals in the US”.

Gottschalk exudes that passion for his faith and music as he shared with me that this festival came about from his vision but he notes that many have taken part to reach this point of success.  Now in its fourth year, the festival started off in small Jazz café and has evolved to this multi-day festival that includes something for everyone.

On March 14, the kick off will be a Jazz night, followed by a faith day, family morning filled activities, and topped off with the headliner Lisa Loeb at the Variety Playhouse. Loeb is currently on tour for her latest CD “No Fairy Tale”. This will part of her Atlanta stop.2013 Lisa Loeb_No Fairy Tale_Cover_300dpi

Gottschalk spoke of the success of the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival that attracted over 30,000 participants to how this diverse community is making a difference in the Atlanta scene. “People want culture, and better yet to have a good time,” notes Gottschalk who has a very infectious personality.

One of his objectives in the Atlanta Music Festival is to appeal outside the Jewish community and show case emerging artist. By bringing in a headliner like Lisa Loeb who has a strong Jewish identity and broad fan base is to bring Jews, music lovers, and Atlantans together.

As to why someone should check out the Atlanta Jewish Music Festival, he admits that it creates the ultimate environment. “For Jewish people, I would pitch it as a way to stay connected to the music community, for music people: a great concert in a good venue, for people with young family to enjoy a family friendly event”, shared Gottschalk.  He concluded that, besides all that it is a “warm and appealing experienced for people who love music.”
