Gerard Way played to a packed audience at the Paradise Rock Club on Sunday. Formerly of the five piece alternative rock band My Chemical Romance, Way passed through Boston in support of his first solo record, Hesitant Alien. He and his backing band The Hormones, which included Reggie and the Full Effect front man James Dewees on keyboards, had the crowd’s undivided attention as they performed the new record in full.

The audience was eclectic; fans of MCR, fans of Way’s comic career, new fans and their parents packed tightly into the pit and balcony, a majority of them singing along to every song, including “Television All The Time” which was only released in Japan. Way opened with “The Bureau.” Immediately following was “Action Cat,” a heart-felt, feel good conversation between him and the audience with lyrics like, “Did you miss me? Cause I miss you too.”
