Once the orchestra regrouped, the entire ensemble played a composition from Final Fantasy XIII, blending the original game’s theme “Blinded by Light” with a vocal tinged arrangement from Lightning Returns, the final game in the XIII sub-series. The cinematic main theme was God of War came after, featuring backing haunting chants from the Berklee Video Game Music Choir and as a delightful surprise, the band even busted out the keytar.

Another first occurred, the premier of selections from brand new Xbox One game D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die’s soundtrack. D4’s director, Swery 65, was even present in the audience, standing up to wave to the crowd. The songs covered a broad range of genres, from an ethereal requiem to a jaunty punk rock tune in the vein of the Dropkick Murphys, the latter getting the fans’ fists pumping.
