N.A.S.A and Lizzo Back in Orbit with “Iko”

Many moons have passed since I last heard from N.A.S.A.–I sat in my dorm room and fell in love with the track “Gifted,” off 2009’s The Spirit of Apollo. The twinkling, surging synths with Santigold, Kanye, and Lykke Li? It was like three crown jewels of electro and hip hop on a…well, a crown.

N.A.S.A. (duo Sam Spiegel and DJ Zegon) is game for a new album to drop next year full of new, astral collabs. “Iko” dropped yesterday, a warm, spirited jam featuring alt hip hop artist Lizzo.

Lizzo, who also featured on N.A.S.A.’s “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot!” with Sean Paul, brings her vocals to an interpolation of “Iko Iko” by New Orleans musician James “Sugar Boy” Crawford. She intersperses her awesome raps with N.A.S.A.’s celestial production, and the result is a vibrant summer hit. Take a listen!
