I must admit, I had never been to Knoxville. I had driven through it many times on my way to the Smoky Mountains or as we drove countless trips to Boston. I would also look as I passed the big gold ball and wonder why it was there and what made that city special.
Well, last month we discovered why Knoxville was so special and I will lay it out in a few reasons why we LOVE Knoxville!
1. The Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park.
Ok, yes I said Holiday Inn, but wait… you gotta hear me out. This is SO much more than any old Holiday Inn on the corner of an interstate. This is wonderful!
Just across the street from the Knoxville Convention Center and right next to that giant gold ball which I learned was the World’s Fair Sunsphere. It was constructed for the 1982 World’s Fair and during that time, it served as the symbol to the Fair. Did you know you can go all the way up and look out of that gold ball? Yep! From your room at the Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park you can see this beloved symbol of Knoxville’s history and view the beautiful park just below as well.
The Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park is much larger than the Holiday Inn’s you might be used to. It has a wonderful on-site restaurant for delicious American cuisine and an indoor pool and fitness center, plus 11,000 sq ft of meeting space and paid parking.
You will feel more than at home with this choice for your stay in Knoxville! This is definitely our favorite!
